Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hobbs served as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut for the Honorable Janet C. Hall, where he handled both criminal and civil matters.
Mr. Hobbs began his legal career as an Associate at Arnold & Porter LLP in New York, New York, where he handled a wide variety of commercial disputes. Mr. Hobbs represented businesses in complex tax enforcement cases; defended individual and corporate clients facing civil enforcement actions by the New York Attorney General's Office; and advised clients engaged in international commerce, including sovereign banks, regarding the applicability of domestic and foreign law and the enforceability of court judgments across international borders. Mr. Hobbs provided pro bono representation in successful litigation to protect Yellowstone and Valley Forge National Parks.
Mr. Hobbs earned his law degree, cum laude, from New York University School of Law in 2007, where he was an Executive Editor for the Environmental Law Journal. Mr. Hobbs earned a Bachelor of Arts from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, in 1997. Mr. Hobbs also obtained a Masters in Philosophy from Cornell University in 2003, and he is expected to receive a Ph.D. in the same concentration in 2012.
Mr. Hobbs is admitted to the New York State Bar, and he is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western District of New York, Southern District of New York, and Eastern District of New York, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
