Mr. Wolford has successfully represented clients throughout New York State in civil and criminal cases in both state and federal courts.  He served as Assistant United States Attorney for three years in the 1970s before spending 21 years as an associate and partner at Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle.  He established the predecessor firm of Michael R. Wolford & Associates in 1993.

Mr. Wolford was President of the Monroe Country Bar Association for the 2004–2005 term and has been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the University at Buffalo Law School for the past 15 years.

Mr. Wolford is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and past chair of the College’s Upstate New York Committee, past president of the Rochester chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and past chairman of the Monroe County Board of Ethics.

He was recognized in 2008 as one of the Top 10 Attorneys in Upstate New York by New York Super Lawyers Magazine.  He has been a recipient of numerous awards and honors in his career, including the 1997 Nathaniel Award from The Daily Record; the 2000 U.S. District Court Special Service Award for representation of a client in a civil rights case; the Monroe County Bar Association's 2001 Adolph J. Rodenbeck Award; the University at Buffalo Law School Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2003; the Rochester Black Bar Association’s 2005 Award for Commitment to Diversity; and the Trail Blazer Award for 2009 from the Students of Color at UB Law School.  He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for "Bet-The-Company Litigation," as well as Personal Injury and Commercial Litigation.

He is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and American Bar Association; a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the New York State Bar Foundation; and has been a board member of numerous community and civic organizations throughout his career.

Mr. Wolford has served as an arbitrator and mediator of disputes submitted to him by judges and other attorneys and has lectured on trial practice to a number of community, business and professional groups.
